West Lothian Council new sickness absence policy is being credited for the large reduction in sick days taken by staff this year.
The new policy focuses on taking action on the principal cause and early intervention, as well as supporting staff once they are back at work.

However, not everyone agrees with their new approach, MSP Neil Findlay, “I fear that the policy is being used as a way of getting rid of people on the cheap”.
