This is the catch-all alternative reason for dismissal where it does not fit into any of the other four categories.
For dismissal to be fair you must show that you had good grounds for believing that the employment relationship must come to an end.
Typical examples of SOSR dismissals are:
If an employee’s conduct or capability is not in question but there has been a breakdown in trust then a dismissal due to that breakdown would come under the umbrella of SOSR.
If an employee is working on a client contract and that client insists that they no longer work on this contract and you cannot move the work or replace the employee so that they can continue to work elsewhere for your business, then you may have no option but to dismiss the employee.
